One of the folks who works with me at Afilias, Andrew Hammond, is trying to clean up a patch he made to include the apache log rotator "natively". We've been looking at it because I'm worried about the I/O our current approach imposes, and we need to have something to compare it with. I think he told me that he'll have a patch ready to offer in a day or two. Of course, it would depend on actually having the rotator program sitting around somewhere.
