Our minor releases coming out this week will create a script when pg_upgrade finishes that contains ALTER EXTENSION ... UPDATE commands for extension that show updates in pg_available_extensions. However, I am unclear if all extensions that have updates are reported in pg_available_extensions or support ALTER EXTENSION ... UPDATE, e.g., PostGIS. Do the new pg_upgrade docs need to be more vague about this?
