I’d like to clarify a couple of points that have come up in the discussion
about a revival of the group. My interest in linux and samba have been
prompted by NVRs decision to to adopt them, I am trying to mimic for myself
the setup they are building and learn as I go but I don’t envision them
asking for outside help, though you never know. I also think it unlikely
that any one of the very few people involved would want to give a talk on
the project though I might if given permission to do so.

Clive suggested Railworld as a meeting place. I know they have recently
cleared out some of the old portacabin type buildings they had to make way
for other stuff but they might still be helpful. I can speak to the main
man there and see what might be available.

NVR don’t have any office space next to Railworld, what we do have is the
station building which doesn’t have the space for meetings and which is
fully utilised.

NVR does have a suitable building, The David Ray Education facility, at its
Wansford (Stibbington) site but I suspect it might be a bit far out/remote
for people and after 16:00 has no cafe facilities except a small kitchen
area for making hot drinks.

Space in central Peterborough would be ideal I guess but maybe rare and
expensive unless there is some community space somewhere. I will pursue
the venue I have knowledge of here in Werrington. And get back when I have
answers.

I agree with Clive that the organisation could probably use some structure
to what it does but I know nothing of the original aims and organisation of
PLUG as it was first set up so hesitate to comment.
