> what all that you have said I do agree, October in East Anglia, ehh, > weather is not on our side for outdoor event. a useful compromise (depending on your location) might be that you put a desk right in front of your location. That is nearly no effort (except for the magisterial permit unless you just ignore that) but may give you an impression how people on the street react. And if someone is interested you can just send them inside. This is the list of organisations which I have contacted. Are any of those in your vicinity? Of course, there may be suitable ones which are not in this list: Bristol and Bath Bristol and Bath Linux User Group Chester CHESTER LUG Rugby Rugby Linux Users Group Southend Southend Linux User Group Blackpool Blackpool Linux User Group Coventry Coventry Linux Users' Group Isle of Wight Isle of Wight Linux User Group Leigh Leigh Linux User Group Manchester Manchester Linux User Group Scarborough Belfast EEECS Hackerspace Hebden Bridge Bridge Rectifier Belfast Farset Labs Manchester MadLab Surrey & Hampshire Surrey & Hampshire Makerspace Edinburgh Edinburgh Hacklab Richmond MakerLabs London London Hackspace Middlesbrough Teesside Hackspace Nottingham Nottingham Hackspace Leicester Leicester Hackspace Chelmsford Chelmsford Makerspace Cambridge Makespace Cambridge Hitchin Hackspace Norwich Norwich Hackspace Newcastle Upon Tyne Maker Space Manchester Hackspace Manchester Preston Preston Hackspace Lancaster LAMM Space Medway Makers Brighton Build Brighton Maidstone Maidstone Hackspace Reading rLab Newbury Newbury Hackspace Southampton Southampton Makerspace Bristol Bristol Hackspace Make Bournemouth Oxford Oxford Hackspace Birmingham fizzPOP Coventry Coventry Makerspace Coventry TekWizz Shropshire Hackspace Potteries Hackspace Bromyard Make:Bromyard Leeds Leeds Hackspace Sheffield Access Space Sheffield Sheffield Hackspace Anglian Linux User Group Berkshire Silicon Corridor Linux User Group Birmingham Birmingham Linux User Group Bradford BradLUG Devon and Cornwall GNU/Linux Users Group Dorset Dorset Linux User Group Durham Durham LUG Edinburgh EdLUG Gloucestershire and Cotswolds GlosLUG London Greater London Linux User Group Hampshire HantsLUG Isle of Man IoMLUG Kent KLUG Leicester Leicester Linux Users Group Lincoln Lincoln LUG Liverpool LivLUG Malvern Malvern LUG Milton Keynes Linux User Group Newark Newark LUG Northants Linux User Group Nottingham NLUG Oxfordshire OxLUG Peterboro Peterboro LUG Portsmouth PLUG Powys Linux User Group (PLUG) RossLUG Rustington LUG Ryedale Ryedale Linux User Group Glasgow Scottish Linux User Group Shropshire Shropshire Linux User Group South Wales South Wales Linux User Group (SWLUG) Surrey Linux User Group Swindon LUG Tyneside Linux User Group West Yorkshire Gnu/Linux Users' Group (WYLUG) Wolverhampton Wolverhampton Linux User Group York York Hackspace I guess if you contact even one which has not responded you mind find someone in a similar position: Not enough time to do it on his own for his association but willing to help you as preparation for a later event in his own group. > I am keen to take on part of > organization but it would be nice to have someone to actually say: "yes, > lets do it, even if we would have to postpone it or cancel". It's easier to get such commitments when meeting face-to-face than on a mailing list. On your next meeting you should ask the people directly. Very improbable that noone is willing to do anything. > Everything can be done / organized - premises, permits, equipment but not > single-handedly... > > Does this change anything? Not really. It's more oir less the usual situation. And the LPD is "designed to be OK with such situations". Just start and see how far you get. If it's not enough for 2016.2 then it probably is for 2017.
