Those disks are not hot swao based - it was a bottom line server.

Phil, I know for sure that the replacement drive is OK because it has been
tested.

Martin, could it be that the PERC is expecting one disk (the original one)
and it refuses any other disk?
Is there any way that I can test the card itself?
