Thank you Phil. No external HDD, and have been unable to burn any CDs or DVD successfully using inbuilt hardware. Did a major backup a while ago so will not be entirely dreadful if the worst happens when partitioning/reformatting. Would like to retry Ubuntu 13.04 or maybe give Mint a try this time, but I do not have a installation disk for the latest version of either flavour. Would you be able to help with that?
