As usual, guys, a million thanks. Lots of help and lots of interesting asides.
Good luck selling yours, Stewart.

My Googling threw up several good how-to-swap-a-drive forums (fora?), websites
and YouTube vids including the cooling issue.

Many thanks for your offer, Andy. Much appreciated.

What I've done, after talking to KRCS, is taken it to them for HDD swap by
their engineers. That leaves the intricacies and issues in their hands for what
I think is a reasonable price.

When it comes back, it will be a blank machine with a new 1Tb drive so the next
question will be whether to sell it and buy a new model or reinstate my data
and carry on. It's a cracking machine but the new ones sing and dance even
more. Any offers considered.

Thanks again,

Brian
