... I think I'm starting to like Unity.

I've just upgraded 11.04 -> 11.10 -> 12.04 over the space of two days (isn't it great that you can do that and continue using your desktop in the meantime?).

I have to say that I don't like dash much more than I like the Android or iPhone way of dumping loads of uncategorised icons in front of me, but that seems to be the way of the world. Does anyone remember the revelation that was (I think, but someone is about to correct me) DOS 3.3 which introduced directories? I think that what we should have now is a way to "tag" applications with keywords and then group by keywords (so it's fine for an app to "live" in more than one "view" but I never have to scroll through hundreds of things to find what I want because I can't remember what it's called).

But aside from that, I do feel like I now have more space on my desktop (thanks to myunity which let me tweak the launcher icon sizes). And Unity doesn't seem to get in the way like it used to. That doesn't mean that I prefer it to the old Gnome2 way of doing things, but it no longer feels like something I can't live with.

Not to worry, I'll be swearing at it by the end of the day!
