Mixed success with Mini Mac tried finnix distro, works and used OpenBoot (OB) PROM as well. Repaced PATA on G4 with new 2.5 inch disk on Saturday [only the Intel Mini Macs use SATA disks]. Unfortunately will not boot first Debian PPC CD, "Cannot read device or file" used correct command from OB prompt which is: O> boot cd:,\install\yaboot CD has been stuck since Saturday, and no OB commands eject cd etc. seem to work. Learnt a lot but as Apple will not allow you to boot from USB, it is going to be a bit more challenging involving Firewire etc. not yet certain but I do give up easily.
