If I have a Linux box (currently Mint flavoured) with lots of music on it,
and I want to be able to play it through "normal" hi-fi kit around the
house, using my Android mobile (Galaxy S2 on ICS) as a remote control,
where do I start?

Ideally (but this would be pretty hard to do) I'd like to be able to stream
to several bits of hi-fi kit simultaneously with synchronisation so that
you can walk from room to room listening to the same track without
problems. This seems to be very "do-able" in concept with network streaming
but I don't know of an actual way to achieve it. I could quite easily do it
with a suitably powerful FM transmitter, although not likely a legal one.
So I'm looking at ways to do it over wifi.
