Ok I just repeated the same process, and the DVD Check (run under VMWare) says the disc is broken, but I know its not.
Not very helpful i know but if anyone else has VMware Player and a copy of the latest OpenSUSE 12.1 DVD off Linux Format wants to take up the challenge and let me know how to get a Vm running openSUSE installed I'd be grateful. In the meantime, if I figure it out, I'll post up the steps I took. Thanks Ernest for your suggestion but this hasnt worked. Physically booting my laptop off the DVD works fine, I dont get any errors, it seems to be a VMWare issue.
