I got a friends laptop and it was running very slow so said ill put ubuntu on I loaded hardy heron ok after that i decided I would try a newer version whilst running hardy heron it said do i want to up grade to latest ver so i said yes it took ages and this morning i cam down to find a brown screen and nothing happening so i restarted and all i got was this [ 0.835605] kernel panic- not syncing: VFS: U nable to mount root fs on unknown- block(0,0) this is all i get on a black screen . Please can you shed some light on how to correct this as iv tried reinstalling but the cdrom doesnt work any more the CDrom only seems to run for 60 sec then stops this is why I cant put another version on and the bios wont let me boot from usb many thanks Gary
