I got a friends laptop and it was running very slow so said ill put ubuntu on i loaded hardy heron ok after that i decided I would try a newer version whilst running hardy heron it said do i want to up grade to latest ver so i said yes it took ages and this morning i cam down to find a brown screen and nothing happening so i restarted and all i got was this [ 0.835605] kernel panic- not syncing: VFS: U nable to mount root fs on unknown- block(0,0) this is all i get on a black screen . Please can you shed some light on how to correct this as iv tried reinstalling but the cdrom doesnt work any more manythanks Gary
