Alternatively you could setup a SSH tunnel from the remote end to your local address (assuming your local real world address is static) and then utilise that. Of course this means the other end have to have the tunnel permanently open or fire off a script at your request to enable it.

I used to do this years ago but can see if I can dig it out the notes if you need it - let me know

nb this was to enable vnc access to X rather than GNome or KDE

Anyone else getting bored with recursive acronyms? GNU is Not Unix, Wine is Not an Emulator, Gitso Is To Support Others... It used to be amusing, now it's like a worn out joke. This aside, Gitso looks like quite a neat app.
