Do not click links, open attachments or take action unless you know the contents are safe] Hi Sarah, We have had excellent luck with the application of an IGR (insect growth regulator) applied by our PMP (pest management professional). This is done to the floors and bottom edges of cabinets, not the objects and not a fog. In some cases and IGR can prolong larval feeding because they don't move past the larval phase. It seems to be quite effective for silverfish. We also had great luck with putting out Dekko silverfish packs, which is basically is boric acid put into the paper and glue of the little pack. From my understanding Silverfish eat it and then die. While these are available to just purchase, in most professional settings, anything like this must be put out by a PMP. I'm sure others will have additional advice. Good luck Genevieve ================================================= Genevieve E. We had a humidity problem a month ago where the room was above 60% relative humidity for a week and the silverfish appeared afterward. We are in the process of deep cleaning the space to remove all of the pests and potential food sources. My director wants to know if there are any chemical(s) that can be used inside the collection space to combat the pests that will not harm the collection (musical instruments). My research so far has not found anything, and the pest control specialist that services the outside of the building only has a fogger available that would leave behind a residue that I refuse to consider. What do you use to combat silverfish? What do you suggest I look into? Thanks! Sarah -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MuseumPests" group.
