Thanks Tony. The storage building we found this insect in is located in a
semi-rural light industrial area with grasslands and trees to one side.
Unfortunately for us, a food waste recycling business moved in 'next door' a
few years ago and since then we have increased 'leaf litter' type insects (and
rodent activity) , especially near the entry doors.
The food waste business is very interesting entomologically, using fresh food
waste from supermarkets (meat, vegetables) to grow soldier fly larvae that are
subsequently dehydrated and sold as stock feed. You can imagine the smell is
horrendous from their 'frass' that has been out in the neighbour's yard!
Thankfully, after many complaints they are finally enclosing the waste delivery
and frass storage areas so we hope that the pest situation will improve soon.
Thanks again for your help! Best wishes Lisa

Trixagidae (some regard it as a subfamily of Elateridae). Turning up more
frequently in herbaria and museum collections, but I don't think anyone has
suggested a good explanation as to why it's doing so, given its known breeding
habitat.

Hello from Portugal, Coimbra. I also echo Lisa's words about this fantastic
group.
It's a click beetle (Elateridae). I've already found some in the museum where I
work.
According to Wiki: ‘Adults are typically nocturnal and phytophagous, but only a
few are of economic importance. On warm nights they can enter houses, but they
are not pests. The beetle larvae, called wireworms, are generally saprophagous,
living on dead organisms, but some species are serious agricultural pests and
others are active predators of other insect larvae.’
I hope I've helped.
Best regards,
Cristina

Hello from Australia :) I love this pest list and the generous help given by
the community – I learn a lot, to.

We found this fellow in a sticky trap near a door to storage area, and having
trouble identifying it as many distinguishing features are hidden.

In other traps around this building, we have been finding a few types of minute
scavenger beetles (esp. dienerella filum), but this one doesn’t have the same
cinched in ‘waist’ that they have.

Thanks for any clues. Best wishes Lisa
