Hi Ayesha,

You are looking at 2 different species. The first two images (adults) are
moths. It is hard to determine what kind of moth it is from the photos, but
is possibly on of a number of species of moths that eat animal based materials
(fiber, hair, skin etc) (Tineola bisselliella – Webbing clothes moths, Tinea
pellionella – Case-bearing clothes moths). There are other species.

The last two images are Demestid larva. Again, there are many species and they
are common. They are beetles who thrive on proteins (animal based materials).
The larva you have photographed are possibly Anthrenus verbasci (varied carpet
beetle). These are a common and a serious museum pest are found world-wide.
I hope this helps

Hello all,

I have attached 4 images: two woolly bears and one adult found living in
taxidermied elephant feet here at the National Museum of Bhutan.

Could I please ask

  * how many species am I looking at here?

  * what species are they and are they specific to central/south Asia?

Thanks everyone,

a.
