These seem consistent with larvae of Fannia. There’s almost certainly an animal
carcass nearby.

Subject: [PestList] Identification help please

Dear Google pest experts,

I have been asked to look at the attached larvae. They have appeared in large
numbers (20 in one day, 19 the next) this week in Oxford in the UK in a
corridor of an old building which was converted into an archive space about 15
years ago. The environment where they were found is cool and not controlled. I
thought that they omitted a rather unpleasant smell. I have no idea what they
are and would be most grateful for some help in identifying them. The rule is
in millimetres, they are between 10mm and 15 mm in length. Apologies for the
poor images - they were moving when I was trying to photograph them. They are
cream/brown/dark brown in colour. One cleaner found one in her hair and thought
they could be dropping from beams above.

Any expert identification would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Celia
