Also, you shouldn't use bug zappers in food areas due to contamination
concerns. Light traps with sticky traps in them are better and also make it
easier to ID what you catch. Keep in mind, though, light traps are not really
control tools; they are intended as monitoring devices. To control the problem,
you need to find out how the flies are getting in.

You may have better luck with a UV light trap if the space is a little bit dim.
We have used them behind counters on the floor out of sight Depends how the
space is. The UV ones that have sticky card inserts in them may be better that
the bug zapper types as the sound will go noticed with guests the sticky card
type is silent. JTV

Subject: [PestList] Fly paper?

[CAUTION: This message originated from outside the Foundation. Do not click

Hi folks,

Does anyone have recommendations for particular brands of paper or tape for
catching flies?

We’re having an issue in one of our historic buildings where we demonstrate
cooking – food attracts flies, and the flies are attracting wasps. We’re taking
measures to deal with the wasps but also want to try to cut down on the flies,
and we already clean as much as possible in that space.

Is one brand of fly tape as good as the next, or are some better than others?

Thanks for your time and input!

Katherine
