Hi Madeline, We have both resident live animals for ongoing programing and occasional animals, such as birds of prey as programing. The comments below are to the point.
The biggest pest concern is the food for the animals. With birds of prey it will likely be dead mice or scraps of meat kept in a cooler. As long as all residues are cleaned up you should not have a problem. That also goes for the birds themselves. Are they going to be in the museum for any length of time? Precautions as to housekeeping can be taken. When we have the animals in the galleries or public spaces we always make sure to have a drop cloth down where they will be. This aids in clean-up. If these are there for only a short time there should be no big concerns. If this is an ongoing program, then there are some other standards and laws that must be looked at.
