Hello, A colleague recommended I reach out to this group about a potential beetle infestation in our historic house museum. We are a museum located in a historic log building in a remote location. We have identified a relatively large number of spider beetles in our regular blunder traps and potential infestation in some of the logs in our foundation crawl space area. The going theory is that the beetles could be feeding on debris in the crawl space or wall voids, and could potentially be burrowing into the logs and covering a relatively large area - but that has yet to be confirmed. With pest control measures, we need to consider staff and visitor safety as well as not to contaminate the museum collections. I am hoping to gain some clarity on how to go about working with contractors on this issue - has anyone worked with an entomologist or pest control specialist in a historic house?
