Diatomaceous earth and/or silica gel will kill all stages of insects by abrading the waxy coating from the exoskeleton of an insect. The egg, larva, pupa, and/or adult then quickly dehydrates to the point of death. If protected from moisture, a light layer of dust will give months of control. It is especially helpful if applied beneath cabinetry where protein materials, such as hair, tend to accumulate. Tom Parker

I am emailing to enquire about diatomaceous earth and it’s efficiency against booklouse. - Does any have experience with this product? - Does diatomaceous earth penetrate the exoskeleton of the booklouse? - Have you had any success with this product and if so against which species? - Is there a specific brand you’re using? - Any pros and cons? Any research papers are also very welcome. We are specifically looking to target booklice but if it’s also effective against silverfish or any other common archival pests that would be interesting to know as well. Many thanks for all of your help.
