While I see that 5.6.x is pretty usefull (low resource footprint - good for 
embedded usage), and I also see the "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" 
reason, I seriously question keeping v5.6.x around now that we have v.5.8.x 
getting strong and sound _and getting frequent releases (meaning you won't 
be stuck with bugs).

At work I ditched v5.6 because I got segfaults with GMP, which didn't 
happened with v5.8 and I was so tired of hunting all these bugs in v5.6 
that only happened there, and then work arund then without slowing the path 
for v.5.8 down, or even breaking it.

There is a time when you have to abandon old stuff and just use the modern 
thing. I would be curious what the reason for v5.6 are - and if not most of 
them are of the "we are to lazy to upgrade", "we don't want to", "it always 
worked" etc :)

v5.6.2 is sooo 2003 :)
