Yeah, and just so that I can be even later to work, I tried again with
"int".  Same thing.  And, for whatever it's worth, I'm doing `make
distclean` between each of these.

And, again:  parrot-0.0.4 *works*.  Configures, compiles, tests.
(The warnings it spits out while it compiles are fairly numerous, but,
hey, Configure.pl told me that would happen.)
