My computer is running on XP and I am running perl 6.8.5. I have an
upload Perl script running of a webpage which uploads to a private
directory whatever my grandkids want to send me. What I would like is to
have some sort of "instant notification" that they have sent me
something. The obvious thing is to send an email... But I am hoping I
can get something more 'instant' fired from the upload script.

Well, email is generally pretty instant. What's generally not instant is the fact that you are not checking your email all the time. Perhaps it should be sent to your mobile phone's email address....thereby letting you know "instantly", wherever you're located.
