I like acctcom since it gives me a brief synopsis of process performance. However I can't figure out what Blocks Read means. A few quick tests shows it has nothing to do blocks as reported by ls -ls. I copied old files which would not have been referenced for a long time to a new filename.
Does Blocks Read have anything to do with disk IO??? Can I take it if Blocks Read was 0 then there was no physical IO to disk??? As always it's a matter of understanding what performance data means. can anybody shed some light? A 1 GB file gave me a Blocks Read of 1. A very small file gave me a Blocks Read of 1. A 6 GB file gave me 3 Blocks Read. recopying the same file gave me 0 Blocks Read which I expected as the files should have been cached. I am puzzled by these small numbers. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ perf-discuss mailing list perf-discuss@opensolaris.org
