The Phoronix benchmark report at

compares Linux and OpenSolaris on an 8-core AMD Shanghai Opteron
system. My software (GraphicsMagick) is part of the benchmark tests.
For some reason, it did remarkably worse under OpenSolaris than under
Linux. In general, OpenSolaris did much worse than Linux throughout
this whole benchmark.
