Drew, Thanks for the update. From looking at the source browser it appears there's a number of new features in there that I'll find useful. On my 2008.11 box there's nothing under /usr/src so I'll have to pull onnv and give that a go.
Keep in mind that, from an outsider's perspective, it looks like Filebench was thrown over the wall and forgotten. I would suggest pulling the SourceForge project if it's not a priority to keep it up-to-date. However, as the original poster pointed out, pulling all of onnv is rather burdensome if you just want Filebench. (In my case I need to get a build of onnv going for other purposes anyway.) Filebench is a very good and necessary tool; I've tried everything out there and there's no other workload simulators that don't suck. And there's no way to design a storage system without simulating load.
