Alan already mentioned the b65 problem with AGP.  However, if you are
still being forced to use the nv driver to get the video mode you desire,
it is likely all the other desktop performance issues will remain even with
the fix for b65/AGP.  Not only that, but if you are manually switching
to the nv X driver without disabling the nvidia kernel driver, the display could become
unstable.

Solaris does Xorg autoconfig instead of asking the user for details about the
input/display hardware.  It then trusts what the display reports as the
preferred video mode.  Your display probably reports a preferred mode
other than 1680x1050.

If you can switch back to the nvidia X driver, please run:

 $ nvidia-SunOS-bug-report.sh
 $ nvidia-settings
     GPU 0 -> (display) -> Acquire EDID...

and send me the two output files.  This will provide clues
for the reasons the video mode was selected.
