Thanks Justin. First off, you really ought to see how your experience compares with a non-debug kernel. The amount of additional work done / code executed on a DEBUG kernel is quite considerable. I should know, i've done quite a few unintentional performance experiments where i've run a benchmark on a debug kernel by mistake. :P I haven't run into problems with poor browser / xmms performance. When the music stalls, what else is happening on the system? Are you disk bound at that point? Perhaps others can chime in with their experience / suggestions. .
