This is also my understanding of Win 9x RAM usage. If one could generate a 550mb scan file, I'm not sure why they would do it. To get the entire file into RAM, along with the rest OS and app, would take GB's of RAM and still run very slow. If you want to see the best that it can do on a 4x5, try scanning a small section of it.
