Hi, Brad, My Manfrotto 679B is 62", and with the el-cheapo head is 64". With a camera on it, the viewfinder is almost exactly at eye level, and I'm 6 feet even. As a matter of fact, it was for those extra 2 inches that I got the head (and is handy to have that tilt for vertical shots).
As someone said, at around $60 Cdn for a decent one, they're one of the best bargains in photographic accessories. Even though I don't use it that often (maybe twice a year), it's money well invested.
