I lived in Syracuse for a couple of years in 1991 and 1992, and I've
been only about an hour away from that city ever since, so I still
occasionally stop by photo shops there.

Hendrick's Photo in Armory Square is the most fun, although they
don't usually have too much Pentax. It's one of those wonderfully
crowded used camera shops, with display cases stuffed with equipment
and back shelves that tease with mysterious contents. It's where I
bought a couple of old Retinas, a Contaflex Super system, an adorable
Zeiss Ikonta 35 (the tag said, "needs a good home"), an Exakta,
flashbulbs and lots of other goodies. Prices were always reasonable,
and often were quite cheap, at least in the pre-eBay days.
They usually have a few off-brand screwmount or K mount lenses and
occasionally have an actual Pentax camera. They have some
accessories, like a bunch of the Spotmatic refconverters, and they're
always likely to have lightmeters, a few folding Voigtlanders,
Mirandas, Bosleys, Arguses, random N**** and C**** stuff, etc. They
had a few Leicas over the years and a Contax or two. The owner's name
is Petey (a woman) and her mom sometimes fills in on Saturdays (not
open until 10 a.m. on Saturday, I think, and closed Sunday). The last
time I was there, they had an Asahi Pentax Copypod in its case.

There's Ra-Lins, which is one of those old-style appliance, jewelry
and photo/electronics stores, and they often have a small amount of
used Pentax stuff (though it pales in comparison to the N**** and
C**** inventory). They're a great source for batteries and used
flashes, too.

There's MQ Camera Center, although I didn't stop there often, so
perhaps they didn't have much used stuff. I haven't been there in 10
years, though, so it may be worth checking them out. There's also
North Plaza Camera, a bit north of Syracuse off Interstate 81, which
always had a good amount of used stuff, but not much Pentax -- more
older folder cameras, some Leicas, etc. I got a used polarizer there
once, but I think their prices were always a bit high.
