So this is the no 3 ring of the Auto Extension ring set.  About 25mm 
long if I remember.  With it you can go from 1:2 to 1:1 with a 50mm 
macro, but not with a 100mm.  You would need a 50mm tube to get 
there.  If you finder check your "X" power, you should be able to see 
50mm or 60mm (1 inch or so) of a ruler with the lens set at closest 
focusing distance with the ring on, not 36mm.
