Glenn.You are correct,I want a fast shutter,at least
1000 or better for 'freezing the moment'.I'm thinking
too now with the weather extremly hot,hazy and humid that
might have something to do with it also.
Maybe i;ll try and take them with a softish background,like some
small trees etc and see what happens

I was under the impression that the "harshness" of midday sun was
due more to angles and being less diffuse than to simple intensity.
So I hadn't expected a ND filter to do much more good than just
upping the shutter speed (assuming you're not trying for slow-shutter
effects). �Had I misunderstood the nature of the problem with noon?
