For the tightrope walker, it helps to have a wider platform to travel on. For a driver, the equivalent would be a wider road, not a wider wheelbase. A wider wheelbase would equate with, I dunno, wider shoes. No--that would be wider tires. Anyway, just another example of how stupid some American car companies think their buyers are.
