Well, it seems that the general thought is that digital will eventually win out over APS and maybe so. However, there will always be those who will never use digital because of the expense & technology. The camera cost is only a small part of ownership... you need a computer to download them to and then a color printer to print them off on. There are those that are technologically & financially challenged enough to never go to digital.
There will always (at least in my life time) a need for film... 35mm or APS, whatever. 110 was supposed to die years ago and it is still here. I realize that there were many more 110 cameras sold than APS but they are getting old and no new ones on the market. I suspect that APS film will be available (maybe not widely) for a number of years after the last APS camera has been discontinued, which may not happen for 3-4 years. In any case, I expect to get may years of service from my ELPH which I find is a great camera for traveling and snapshots due to its size. By the time APS is gone, I am sure my ELPH will be ready for retirement also. At that point I will have to struggle along with one of my 4 MX's, 2 KX's (black), 5 Olympus Trip 35's, Pentax 110, Pentax Auto 110 or SF-1.
