My MZ-S screwed up and started stopping down constantly when turned on. I
also had observed over the years that there were marks developing on the
inside back elements of my 77 Limited. It seemed like the back, fixed
element collided with the moving focus lens group. Needless to say, I took
them to service.
Anyway, Pentax will give me a brand new 77 Limited. Mine was close to two
years old. They also will replace my one year old, and well used MZ-S with
a hardly use demo version. Nice service!

This is great to hear! Who needs NPS and whatever Canon calls their
service? I guess Pentax does stand behind their well-built products. We
have read the stories of the abuse some of us have given our gear (yes, my
original LX is beat-to-hell) and how they keep on working.

Talking about well-used cameras, I know that my MZ-S has been banged around
a bit, in the bag and out. I was discussing this with someone at GFM and I
had to look very hard to find the marks on the camera. It was much easier
to find it on the grip than the camera. That is an extremely durable
finish. TV, were there any marks left on your MZ-S?

I have talked with TV about his keeping the repair people at Pentax busy.
He has been very happy with their timely repairs and apparently fair prices.
See Tom, I didnt even mention the fact that at 12:15 p.m. on Friday
afternoon at GFM you dropped you MZ-S with the 43 Limited on the front steps
of the cabin :-) See Bill, it was worth you having me write that down...

Speaking of great Pentax service, I am truly amazed at all the gear the rep
was able to have sent to GFM. Along with the 2 MZ-S with grips, there was a
200, 300, 400, and 250-600, and about six other lenses. I seem to recall a
few flash units too. This speaks a lot about the rep and the desire for
Pentax (at least someone there) to get the word out on their equipment.

It was great! I had relegated most the LXen to the camera bag since I was
taking advantage of the imprinting of the MZ-S to be able to compare lenses.
The last day I was carting around my MZ-S with a kit of Limited lenses. I
never did get a shot of that though. There were at least six people
throughout the weekend who wondered what I was carrying and asked. I would
hand them the camera and let them handle it. To a person they were very
impressed with the feel of the setup. And no, I was not trying to sell
people on the system, they all approached me. There is no truth to the
rumor that only the pretty ones were invited back to the cabin to look at
camera gear :-) Interesting how a few asked about the speed of the winder.
After the first two times I remembered the specification. Most were
extemely surprised at the well thought out vertical shutter release and then
the compact size of the MZ-S without the grip.

In terms of medium format, it was also well represented at GFM. Pentax sent
two 645nIIs and I believe about 10 lenses. The largest lens was the 300/4!
I tried not to handle them too much. I dont believe in going into debt.
And no, I will not sell my 35mm equipment.

There was only one 67II and I think about five lenses. The big boys on that
one were the 300 and 400mm lenses.

And there was also sharing of equipment among the PDMLers. That was great
how people just offered up their gear along with seeing how people shot and
what people shot.

I will end the rambling now, I have to try to scan in some shots from GFM
and try to get them out there for all to see :-) Yes things are a little
slow today at work.
