I took a lot of pictures in Toledo. I’m posting these first because it’s a manageable set.
Before 1492, when the muslims and Jews were driven out, there were hundreds of synagogues in Spain. Only three remain, and only as museums; two are in Toledo. This is the Synagogue Santa Maria La Blanca, by far the best preserved. It was designed by a Moorish architect and built about 1180, and after the Jews were driven from Toledo around 1400 it served as a church, a monastery (the monks gave the building its current name), and a warehouse. The Catholic Church still owns it, but maintains it as a museum and memorial. https://rickwomer.smugmug.com/organize/Spain-2019/Toledo-Synagogue Comments appreciated!
