Rob, I'm in Canada. We don't get heat haze here<G>. I don't think it would have been haze, the day wasn't that warm. Also, it wasn't windy, so it wouldn't have been dust blowing around. It is pretty awful though, whatever caused it. Actually, I have noticed this sort of artifact on a lot of the digital prints I have seen, whether from film or digicam.
