Hi Mishka,

I agree film will give better results however the digital isn't that bad for
most applications. I don't agree regarding the better tones and latitude
comments however, if you check the EXIF data embedded in the image you will see
that the image was shot at 16:17 and sunset in Sydney was 16:53 today, the
colour temperature was set at 5500deg so the colour is actually quite accurate.
Colour accuracy and repeatability is one of the primary advantages of digital
as far as my experience indicates (over 3500 filed images since late Nov 2001).
I have had very good success in this area, far better in fact than with any
film based colour photographic process.

Granted there were blowouts in the highlights of the image however they were
generated by specular (or white gloss) surfaces reflecting the full afternoon
sun. Even so there is still good shadow detail. I have my camera set to low
contrast so that I have a little latitude available for post image capture
editing.

I must admit viewing Provia 100 slides with my Pentax 5.5 loupe shot with my my
67 are a little better in quality but these and my digital shots are rarely
used to capture similar scenes/objects or are they destined for the same
display media/option either so the point is mute. :-)

Cheers,
