I totally agree about the shadows. The lighting is overly dramatic with
just a single light source straight above.
The software I use is Zerene Stacker. It integrates fairly well with
Lightroom and is pretty straightforward to use, although I have yet to
learn how to control the blotchiness that envelops the bristles and
hairs. Maybe I don't run my stacks deep enough, or maybe I need to look
into the technique they call sub-stacking... I don't know. Lots to
learn... :-)
