Lots of T-shirt stores in my neighborhood. On St Marks place ... Lots
with F*ck. and other rude phrases.. being considerd for purchase by some
very conservative looking tourist from foreign lands.
Also for sale are shirts with Chinese characters on them - I'm guessing
at least some of those have similar meanings to the tattoos

That sort of thing is quite common around the world. In 1976 when I spent the summer
working in France I was amazed at the number of t-shirts which paired apparently random
words with 'Team'. In India a few years ago I saw one inscribed "Love is fast, life
a vest", which has always struck me as deeply profound in an oriental wisdom sort of
way. Or do I mean Norman Wisdom?
Anyway, I wonder how many English-only people with foreign language tattoos
realise that they all say 'dickhead'.
