Hi Julia, eBay is a great source for gear, but you do need to exercise some caution, as many of the other posts have related to you. Watch out on K1000's though. Although you can sometimes get a terrific deal, many times I see the price bid up to ridiculously high numbers. It seems some folks just lose their common sense when it comes to bidding on eBay, and the K1000 many times sells for more than it is really worth. The best thing to do is to use www.keh.com as a reference for the price you are willing to pay.
I've bought and sold most all my gear on either eBay or through KEH. So far, I've been lucky (though I like to think of it as being a wise consumer!) on eBay and have not been burned. The same with KEH, I've had great luck with them, and everything I've bought has been in "BGN" condition. No complaints about KEH or the quality of their gear at all.
