Hey Larry; I agree, this is a good portrait. I like the moody, chiaroscuro look of it, and the vibrant colour of the paint and fruit.
But I don't like how much the oblique light emphasizes the subject's skin blemishes. The closely related shot -30829, where the accent lights fired, is more flattering to her complexion. This kind of extreme closeup / beauty shot needs some combination of flawless complexion, lots of foundation and powder on the skin, good retouching in post, or possibly conversion to black and white. Rather flat lighting, at least as fill, would help too by hiding the shadows created by blemishes and enlarged pores, as well as reducing highlights caused by any skin oils. Anyway, the struggle was worth it. :) On Mon, Jul 28, 2014 at 6:58 PM, Larry Colen <[email protected]> wrote: > A friend of mine does face painting and wanted to do a photo shoot with me to > show off her work.
