Strong color burst very dramatic. Some white dogwood in bloom here, but freezing temperatures and snow tomorrow may slow things a bit.

The red, pink or white "petals" on a dogwood tree aren't petals at
all, but rather bracts, which are modified leaves. The actual flowers
of the dogwood are those tiny greenish-yellow objects in the center of
the bracts, but which is actually a flowering head.
