Here's an example of rampant enabling run wild -- A photographer spent the day in our lab on Sunday, approving big watercolour prints for a somewhat rush job. (Brendan met his dog while picking up that enlarger.) While waiting for one of the prints to come out, we got talking about camera equipment. He's looking for a supplementary system to what he has now. He shoots primarily with a Mamiya RZ, with a range of lenses and backs and accessories, and with a Nikon FM2. He's looking for something like the FM2 but in medium format. I tell him about the Pentax 67, describe in loving detail what I like about it, am upfront about its shortcomings. He seems really interested. So, I haul out the MiniTrekker and hand him my 67 with the 75mm f2.8 on it. He's knocked out by the size and weight and handling. Then I tell him how much they go for used, and he's floored. He's even amazed at how little the brand new 75mm cost. The funny part is that I really didn't mean to enable him. We were just chatting, and I got talking about the 67. Now he's looking around for one in good shape at a good price. He's also interested in lenses in the 150mm range, for portraiture...do any of our Brothers have favourites? -Brother Aaron, the accidental enabler - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
