I've been thinking a bit about recycling lately.

Mainly because I'm doing a fair amount as I try to de-clutter this
house. If I can't use it, it goes to Goodwill for someone who can. If it
can't go to Goodwill, it goes to recycling ... or compost.

Only if there's no other way to reuse/recycle does it go into the trash.

I've been recycling a lot of cardboard. I still had almost every
shipping carton that any appliance, computer, TV, stereo component,
monitor ... was packed in. Kept them in case I had to ship something
back for repair. Well, nobody repairs anything any more so, I've been
emptying them out, flattening them and getting them off to the recycle
center.

I've still got one problem. STYROFOAM - all the peanuts & packing inserts.

There is no recycling for Styrofoam. The nearest place that accepts
Styrofoam for recycling is 180 miles away in Hickory, NC.

Man, garbage is getting more and more complicated every day!

;-)

Toronto now has single stream recycling. All the stuff is sorted at
the recycling facility into paper and metal. Makes life (and
recycling) a bit easier.

Fun shot (with serious overtones).

cheers,
frank
