So far I've only watched the video on The Hour; very interesting stuff! Amazing
that 28 years after Merckx got the record it was bested by Boardman by a mere
ten metres (in the "athletes hour"). Goes to show how amazing Eddy's record
was, especially when one considers how much training techniques and science
have developed in that time span.

Also consider that Merckx did his hour after his back injury. He always said he
was never the same after the accident and felt that be could have gone farther
in his hour were he not plagued with back pain.

At some point I'll have to go look at Vickie's thighs. Until then I'll have to
(again) congratulate you Brits on ~owning~ the road and especially the
velodrome at the Olympics. Most impressive!

Nice to see Kenny come out of Hoy's shadow (and beat a monster like Bauge no
less!). And I was thrilled to see Sir Chris win one more gold in the keirin.

Great stuff!

cheers,
frank

I am a member of the CTC (Cyclists' Touring Club), who send me a weekly
newsletter email. In this week's they have included a piece with some links
about what lies behind Victoria Pendleton, which some of the Hoy-polloi on
the list might find interesting:
