Hmm, that could be a bit of a problem, and requires some hacking ... When the AF140C comes as a complete package, you get 3 adapter rings that couple the flash bayonet to a 49mm, 52mm and 58mm filterthread respectively. (since those used to be the standard Pentax sizes) >or am i going to have clearance trouble? No, the flash-head clicks onto its own adapter (into a circular groove near the front) and that adpater has the (49/52/58) filterthread at its back. The flash unit does not stick out at all, so using extra rings should not be a problem. (but normally not needed with Pentax lenses) If you don't have any of the special adapter rings, you will need some kind of ring or tube, that is very close to 60mm in diameter, so it can be inserted into the flash head. To make it latch on, you need a 2mm wide groove about one mm from the end, that reduces the diameter there to 57mm. But perhaps you can make it work with some gaffer-tape too :-) >i know i won't get any automation on the exposure, Right, there are two TTL settings (f/5.6 and f/11) but these don't work for digital bodies except the *istD and a few more from that era ... >and may have to attenuate the flash physically, Yes, there is just one manual setting (full power :-) so other regulation would be neutral density filters on the flash or the lens, and exposure control on the camera (ISO and aperture). And you can select left, right or both-sides which has some effect on exposure too. >but any tips on working with this flash and Pentax DSLR? Apart from the above, no. I must admit I have not used it after upgrading the *istD to K10D and later the K5. I used it quite a lot with the LX and PZ1 'back in the days' :-) Regards, JvW ------------------------------------------------------------------ Jan van Wijk; http://www.dfsee.com/gallery -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
